This recipe requires dark chocolate, white chocolate, and milk chocolate. Talk about chocolate overload! The addition of raspberries, however, is the perfect remedy to all the chocolate. Use the dark chocolate for the normal brownie mixture, and fold in the white and milk chocolate chunks with frozen raspberries before pouring into the pan. The result is a decadent treat where the tartness of the raspberries beautifully contrasts the richness of the chocolate. What’s more, it adds a refreshing twist that elevates your traditional brownie to a gourmet indulgence. Perfect for impressing guests or simply pampering yourself!

2. Chocolate Coconut Brownies

Add a coconut twist to your brownies with this simple variation. When making the brownie mixture, simply add approximately 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut. The coconut is a subtle addition. These brownies are great for any occasion.

3. White Chocolate, Cherry, and Almond Brownies

This white chocolate ‘blondie’ is a light and refreshing alternative to the traditional brownie. Replace the dark chocolate with white chocolate and add in approximately a cup of glace cherries. Top with some flaked almonds. These would be great as a Christmas treat!

4. Peppermint Crisp Brownies

These brownies are sure to be minty fresh. They’re the perfect combination of dessert and after-dinner mint. When making these brownies, use dark chocolate and add in some strong black coffee (about 1/3 cup for a recipe that makes about 15 slices). Serve with some thick cream and top with roughly chopped peppermint crisp bars.

5. Peanut Butter and Chocolate Brownies

For this recipe, simply prepare the brownie recipe as per usual. Once poured into a baking tray, spoon the peanut butter over brownie mixture. Use a round-bladed knife to create a swirl effect. Bake as normal, allow to cool, and serve. This treat will be popular with both kids and adults. Although remember to check for peanut allergies!

6. Spiced Orange and Raisin Brownies

The combination of chocolate and orange is tasty and timeless. This is why I simply love this fruity twist on the basic brownie. Simply add in a couple of teaspoons of finely grated orange rind, mixed spices, 1/3 cup of mixed peel, and one cup of raisins. You can also swap the mixed peel for chopped pecans.

7. Rum and Raisin Brownies

These adult-only brownies would be the perfect after-dinner treat. For this recipe, place the raisins into a small bowl and pour over a few tablespoons of rum. Set them aside while you prepare the rest of the ingredients as per usual. Fold the raisins through the final mixture and then pour into a baking tray. Bake, cool, and then dust with icing sugar to serve.

Any of these recipes are sure to be a hit with guests. What’s your favourite take on the traditional brownie?
