Add Calories to Meals, you ask yourself? Why would I need to do that? Well, believe it or not (and many refuse to accept it), there are people who need to add calories to meals. For example, those who are convalescent or underweight. However, it can be hard to eat larger quantities. So here are some easy ways to add calories to meals.

1 Powdered Milk

Powdered milk is a great way to add calories. It can be added to all sorts of things – mix it in with full-fat milk, yoghurts, add it to smoothies. And because it won't fill you up, you won't notice the extra calories.

2 Add Nuts – Add Calories to Meals

Do you like eating desserts? Nuts are excellent for boosting your calorie count. Simply throw some chopped nuts into desserts (e.g., yoghurts), or add ground nuts to sauces. They can also be used for savoury sauces.

3 Cheese Please

If you like cheese, then it's an easy way to add calories to meals. Grate some onto your pasta sauce, add your favourite cheese to a salad, or spread some on your sandwich before adding other fillings. It also makes a great snack food, especially on crackers.

4 Add Calories with Olive Oil

Olive oil is a healthy fat, so you can use it to add worry-free calories. Use it for cooking, drizzle over salads, add a splash to soups and dress vegetables with it. It's an effortless way of increasing calorie intake.

5 Dried Fruit

Dried fruit gives you a great way to add calories to meals. There are so many varieties that you're bound to find something that you like. They're very nutritious, and are easy to carry around for a healthy snack. Plus dried fruit can be added to cereal, smoothies, yoghurts or used in baking.

6 Eggs

Eggs can also add calories to a meal (as well as being a great source of iron). You can use them to jazz up a soup. Hard-boiled eggs have lots of culinary possibilities – add them to a potato salad, green salad, stir-fry or sandwich.

7 Cream Sure Adds Calories

A swirl of cream is handy for adding calories to meals of all kinds. For instance, add cream to soup without it being too filling. It also looks great! Try pouring it over desserts, adding some to porridge, or make a lovely rich hot chocolate. Cream can also be added to savoury sauces – pour some over sliced potatoes and bake in the oven.

If you're a meat-eater, then use any left-over meat to add calories to a meal. It can make sandwiches, boost a salad, or plump up an omelette. Plus you can make stews or casseroles extra-filling by adding some cooked meat.

Since there are genuine reasons why someone may need to add calories to meals, but they may have a poor appetite, these tips offer easy ways to add calories to meals without adding bulk. Or you may be like me and find it very difficult to gain weight. So I'm going to try these tips myself and add some much-needed calories to my diet!
