While it is true that life changes once you have been diagnosed with diabetes, the changes are not as dramatic once you have had a chance to get used to them. For instance, you may never be able to have all the same desserts as before, but it certainly does not mean that you cannot have delightful desserts at all. Here is a list of top 7 desserts for diabetes.
1. Frozen Strawberry Pops
This is one simple recipe for mouth watering treat. All you need is some strawberry, some pineapple and sugar free lemon soda. Just blend the fruits in a blender, add the lemon soda and freeze in small paper cups with a wooden stick in between!
2. Raspberry Thumbprints
This dessert is considered by many to be one of the top desserts for diabetes. These cookies do have some sugar in it, but it is a very little quantity and well within the restrictions of most diabetics. Else, you can use sugar substitutes. The cookies are made with all purpose flour, egg white, sugar and vanilla and topped with no sugar raspberry fruit spread.
3. Frozen Bananas on a Stick
This is one of my favorite desserts for diabetes. It is so easy to make and is extremely delicious. Just take ripe bananas, cut them cross wise, insert a wooden stick in the middle, spread some fat-free vanilla yogurt on them and roll them in grape nuts. Freeze and eat frozen.
4. Date Nut Coffee Cake
This is a delectable dessert that has a great combination of flavors. The dates bring in the sweetness, the nuts crunchiness and the coffee brings its unique bitter flavor. Not only is it yummy, it is also filling. And, it doesn’t take more than a half hour to prepare.
5. Carrot Cake
This has been an all-time favorite dessert for diabetics for ages. It is healthy and nutritious and tastes absolutely delicious. It is flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla and has a unique flavor and great consistency.
6. Apple Crumb Cake
This is another one of those fruit cakes that is incredibly yummy. This one too can be flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla which combined with the flavor of apple make for a really tasty treat.
7. Peanut Butter Squares
This is great treat to munch on any time of the day or night. It is yummy, filling and easy to make. It uses banana to add consistency and so also is very nutritious. And, little pieces of peanut in these cookies add great crunch to every mouthful.
As you can see from this list of top 7 desserts for diabetes, you really don’t have to deprive yourself of great food because of your medical condition. You just need to be careful about the calories you consume and perhaps add sugar substitutes instead of sugar. But, when the desserts are rich in taste and flavor like these ones, you will not notice the substitution of sugar at all.
