8 Awesome Desserts Made with Fruit ...

By Aprille

I'm all for getting my daily dose of fruit any way I can. If I can squeeze in some fruity into a delightful dessert of some sort, then I will definitely do so. Here are 8 awesome desserts made with fruit for you to try. Pass on some of your favorite recipes if you have some fruity treats that you enjoy making.

8 Plum Pudding Cake

Heat the oven to 350 degrees and grease 4 custard cups before mixing the ingredients for the cake. Combine a half cup sugar, a quarter cup flour, a quarter teaspoon of salt and a half a teaspoon of cinnamon. Add 3 tablespoons of melted butter to this mix, as well as a tablespoon of lemon juice. Beat 3 egg yolks and a cup and a half of milk together and add the flour mixture. Using an electric mixer, combine 3 egg whites and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Beat the sugar and egg whites until stiff. Fold this mixture into the cake mix previously made and spoon into the custard cups. Sprinkle chopped plums on top of each custard cup and bake for 30 minutes.

7 Baked Apples

If you've never tried a baked apple, then you probably don't know how easy they are to make. Apples make an excellent dessert when baked with molasses, raisins, and walnuts. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and combine 2 tablespoons of each; molasses, chopped walnuts, chopped raisins, and brown sugar. Core out the center of 6 apples of your choice and evenly pour the sweet mixture into each apple that has been placed inside a large baking dish. Pour a half cup of hot water over the apples before baking for 20 to 25 minutes.

6 Strawberry Pie

I like to use the no-bake method for this dessert. Take a quart or two of fresh strawberries and clean them. Mix two packages of strawberry jell-o and let it thicken a bit. Once the gelatin has thickened slightly, mix in the clean strawberries. Pour the strawberries and jell-o into a pie crust that has already been cooked. Top with whipped cream and you have a tasty dessert for a hot summer day. I like to mix in some blue berries with the strawberries on the Fourth of July for a more festive look.

5 Fruit Tarts

The great thing about these tiny tarts is that you can add any type of fruit you want. I like to make these for the kids and give them a variety of fresh fruit to choose from. Heat the oven to 375 degrees and add a cup of Bisquick baking mix to 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon of softened butter, and a 3 ounce package of cream cheese. Kneed this mixture together until you form a ball of dough, and then divide the dough into 6 tart pans. Bake the tart shells for about 10 minutes. While the shells are cooling, mix together another 3 ounce package of cream cheese, a quarter cup of sugar, and a quarter cup of sour cream. This creamy mix is supposed to go on top of each tart and then the fruit is laid on top of it.

4 Triple Berry Layers

Make a box of strawberry jell-o and allow it to set for about an hour. Cut up a quart of strawberries, mix with the semi-thickened gelatin, and pour into the bottom of a large clear bowl. Take half of a container of whipped topping, mix in a quart of blueberries, and pour on top of the strawberry mixture. Slather the remaining whipped topping on the very top and place raspberries on the surface. If you don't like raspberries, then you can use blackberries or even bananas if you want.

3 Quick Peach Cobbler

If you like peach cobbler, but don't want to take the time to make it, then you might like this recipe. Heat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 pan. Pour a large can of chopped peaches in the bottom of the pan and sprinkle box of yellow cake mix on top. Drizzle a melted stick of butter over the dry cake mix and the peaches. Bake this concoction for 35 minutes for a yummy cobbler. I like to add some chopped pecans to the top before baking.

2 Fruit Cups

These are great desserts for little hands. Grease 12 muffin cups and heat the oven to 325 degrees. Brush one side of a wonton wrapper with melted butter and then dip the buttery side into a bowl of brown sugar. Press the sugary side of the wonton wrapper down into the muffin cup. Bake the wrappers for about 7 minutes or until lightly browned. Any type of fruit can be added to whipped cream and placed into each cooled wonton wrapper. You can mix three-fourths of a cup of Mascarpone cheese with a couple of tablespoons of honey if you want something with a richer flavor than whipped topping.

1 Cream-filled Strawberries

I'm sure you've seen some of the humongous strawberries at the super market and wondered how you might turn these lovely fruits into a dessert, without whacking them into smaller bits. Sure, you can always cover them with chocolate, but what about filling them with a sweet and creamy mixture instead? Wash and clean each strawberry and cut a rather deep X into the top of the berries. Mix a package of instant French vanilla pudding with a cup of cold milk. Stir in 2 cups of whipped topping to the pudding mix and a dash of almond extract. Put the mix into a plastic baggie and cut the corner off. Pipe the cream into each strawberry.

I hope these 8 awesome desserts made with fruit are ones you get a chance to try out. They are all so tasty! What is your favorite dessert to make with fruit?
