Lemons are yellow. Lemons are sour. Lemons are a citrus fruit. We all know those facts right? But what else do you know about lemons? I'm here to teach you some facts you may not have known about our sour, yellow, citrus friend! Here are 7 facts about lemons.
I don't know about you, but I associate soft and mushy with over-ripe fruits and veggies. However, when picking a lemon, you want to look for the ones that feel heavy and slightly soft and giving in your hand when squeezed. It's okay if they're slightly green, since "yellow" doesn't mean ripe. Just don't go for the ones with brown spots, and you're set.
Use lemon with salt to scrub brass, copper and stainless steel, and plain lemon will shine up aluminum! They are also good for helping to lighten your hair and whiten things as well! Got freckles?
If you picked a lemon too hard, it's as easy as sticking it in the microwave for 20 seconds and there you go! Also, it is wise to roll your lemon under your palm on the counter before cutting it to maximize the liquid you will get from it! Oh, I love fresh-squeezed lemonade... yum!
If you eat one lemon a day, you're getting all the Vitamin C your body needs! Of course, this means the entire lemon, and not just the juice, which I can't do! My hubby has no problem eating a lemon as if it were an orange, but that's just too much sour for me! Vitamin C helps boost your immunity... so no more colds!
Lemon trees produce year around! Can you believe it? One tree will yield about 500-600 lemons a year! Now, I'm second guessing my choice to start a lemon orchard! A little too much work for me!
Lemons can last up to 2 weeks on your counter. In the refrigerator, though, they can last up to 6 weeks (as long as they're not cut)!
Lemons help to release toxins in your body. On top of that, they're great for boosting energy. In the morning, drink a glass of warm water with a couple slices of lemon it in. Drinking lemon water and lemon in your tea throughout the day will help to aid in your weight loss journey! The more lemon in your water you can stand, the better! And no sugar!
Once I read about lemons helping with weight loss, I knew I had found a good friend! Know any other facts about lemons you'd like to share? Please do!
